Kensington Recreation Committee Minutes

June 8, 2005

Draft subject to change prior to approval

Meeting began at 7:00 at the Town Hall

In attendance: Kathy Cook, Nancy Roffman, Mary Jane Solomon

Guest: Mike Motherway

Sign-up forms for Camp in the Park went out through the school. Kate Clark will be directing two weeks in July, the 11th – 15th and 25th -29th, Kathy Cook will direct camp July 18th – 22nd.

Discussion concerning complaints of trash at Sawyer Field. Policy has always been carry –in/carry-out at both parks. Apparently someone supplied a trash can suggesting trash will be picked up. Trash can should be removed. Selectmen will be asked about appropriateness of posting signs on carry-in/carry-out policy.

Mike Motherway brought up the Capital Improvement Plan that needs to be complete by the end of this year. Asked Rec. to address recreation needs of the town over next ten years. Population is currently 2,000. Assuming it will increase to 3,000 in ten years, NH towns with a current population of 3,000 should be studied. Suggested we talk with Jill Robinson of the Rockingham planning Commission to get some figures from towns in the area. Possibly a combined work session with Selectmen, Planning Board, ZBA, and Rec. to look at long term needs could be arranged.

Discussed need to meet with KYAA to open lines of communication and try to rally new members. Need to look at RSA to see if KYAA could come under Rec. Work session should follow with KYAA to determine directions and responsibilities of each committee.

Meeting adjourned.

Next meeting July 13th at 7:00 at the Town Hall

Respectfully submitted,

Mary Jane Solomon
