Mother/Son ‘Brain Waves’- on May 14th at KES gym- Dawn stated that there would be no age limit for children and that the cost would be $2 per child/$5 per family. Dawn stated that she would like approval for a snack table and decorations and for some materials for the experiments. She may be able to get approval to use the PTO popcorn maker. Dawn made the motion to spend up to $100 on snacks/decorations/materials for the Brain Waves event. The motion was seconded and was passed.
Kensington Festival – on Saturday, July 10th at Sawyer Park - a Hawaiian/Jimmy Buffet theme was discussed - everyone liked and approved the theme! Dawn will email Bruce with respect to fireworks. Dawn made a motion to book a band in the amount of $1000 or under, the motion was seconded and was passed. Cengiz will start working on sponsors for the festival. The recognition of a recreation member-Donna will order the plaque –details per a previous meeting.
Summer Camp- Marilyn Niles updated the committee with the following: Marilyn and Kay have started interviewing for the positions of summer camp counselors.
Donna discussed the Kensington Equestrian Center-they have a summer camp also and would like to have the program advertised with the Kensington summer camp –for every KRC registration the recreation committee would receive $25. Donna will gather all of the information and report back to the committee.
The summer camp fee was discussed again; $85 per camper for a regular day ($220 per family) and $130 per camper for extended day ($345 per family).
Budget – the second part of the BOS/Recreation Committee meeting needs to be set to discuss the recreation revolver. We also need to review at each meeting the recreation revolver account.
Skateboard Park –Cengiz discussed the skateboard equipment. It was noted that it is disruptive to the ball teams to have the equipment in the bunker. A discussion took place with respect to having volunteers or professionals install the equipment. All agreed to look into professionals-Cengiz will get a quote to install the skateboard equipment and it will be discussed at the next meeting. Cengiz stated his son Vic would help move the equipment if needed while Cengiz is out of town.
By-Laws/Procedures/Mission statement/Roles – this project will need to take priority.
