Kensington Recreation Committee Minutes

Meeting began at 7 pm at the Town Hall

In attendance: Kay Christie Cardoni, Donna Carter, Mike Motherway

Guest: Dawn Perry

A meeting was called to discuss the Kensington Town Festival

The Kensington Town Festival on July 18^th was a great success. It was an old fashioned family day, with games, face painting, and music.  This meeting reviewed what went smoothly and recommendations for next year.

Recommendations:

• Have the event start at 4-4:30pm
• Have set hours for food cooking and pot-luck
• Advertise the event earlier   
• Promote Cook-off
• Fire Truck at park for kids to explore
• Blueberry or Boston cream Pie Eating Contest
• Job List so volunteers can easily choose a chore – Clean –up, Bathroom watch, Concession stand, Parking, Delivery organizer for bouncy house, food, and parking cones
• Book the same band – Rock Daddy’s
• Keep Festival on the same Saturday every year –the Second Saturday in July
• Acknowledge Volunteers – Firemen, etc
• Invite Library, Church to coordinate their activities
• Town-wide Garage sale at the same time

• Town-wide email
• Great Fireworks this year

Other events discussed:

• A Harvest Festival the third weekend in September-having a band and picnic from 11am until 4pm
• A Movie Night – perhaps next June.
