Kensington Recreation Committee Minutes

June 17, 2009

Meeting began at 7 pm at the Town Hall

In attendance: Kay Christie Cardoni, Cengiz Satir, Donna Carter, Mike Motherway

Guest: Dawn Perry, Grace Beason, Dave Macek

A meeting was called to discuss the Kensington Town Festival and to vote on issues relating to the Recreation Revolver Account.

 

Dave Macek updated the committee respect to Adult Softball; there are currently 5 teams (about 3 ½ from Kensington and 1 ½ from E.  Kingston).  The league starts on 6/25/09 with games Monday through Thursday at 6 pm and 7:15pm . Dave will provide a roster for each team, a waiver for each team member, and the fee for each team. Dave requested the use of the field lights for late games; in exchange for field work Dave will have limited use of the field lights.  During the ‘play-offs’ the Adult Softball League will be charged for lights. A motion was made by Cengiz Satir – to authorize payment of expenses for the Adult Softball League from the Recreation Revolver not to exceed the amounts deposited and designated for this program.  Dave Macek will contact Kathy Felch regarding processing expenses for this program. The Recreation Committee will review the transactions via a report generated by Kathy Felch. The motion was seconded and the Recreation Committee voted to pass this motion.

 

With respect to the summer camp, Kay Christie Cardoni made a motion to extend the deadline for Refund of Summer Camp fees to June 24, 2009. The motion was seconded and the Recreation Committee voted to pass the motion. Kathy Cook will be forwarding “Tick and Mosquito Guidelines and Procedures” for review. There has been concern with respect to this topic and the summer camp will be taking precautions.  Cengiz Satir made a motion- to authorize payment of expenses for the Summer Camp from the Recreation Revolver not to exceed the amounts deposited and designated for this program.  Kathy Cook will contact Kathy Felch regarding processing expenses for this program. The Recreation Committee will review the transactions via a report generated by Kathy Felch. The motion was seconded and the Recreation Committee voted to pass the motion.

 

The Kensington Town Festival is scheduled for July 18th, the discussion centered on having an old fashioned family day. Activities that were discussed: traditional games, music, dunk tank, town pick-up games of: kick ball, baseball, basketball, soccer, and horse shoes, face painting, food-pot luck and grilling, a craft table, and a jumpy slide.

Also discussed at this meeting: a 50/50 raffle, parking issues/shuttle, a limited concession stand, and the firework donation.
