Kensington Recreation Committee Minutes

Meeting began at 7:00 pm

Minutes to the April 8, 2009 meeting were approved.
Donna gave an overview of the programs the recreation committee has done in the past.
The Ski Progam-organized by John Clark
The Town Halloween Party-organized by Donna Carter
The Kensington Elementary programs-organized by L. Spinosa
The Kensington Summer Camp—organized by Kathy Cook
The First Anniversary of Sawyer Park-organized by Dave Buxton
The Sledding Day-organized by Mary Jane Solomon
The Tree Lighting in the Park
The current programs are the Adult Co-ed Softball League organized by Dave Macek.
Dave will be invited to the next recreation committee meeting to give an update on the league. The Summer Camp update was given by Kathy Cook via email dated May 11, 2009: enrollments were continuing, hiring was nearly complete, and she was looking for the current bunker code so that she could assess the summer camp supplies. She also stated that Felicia Motherway had resigned from her position as Camp Coordinator. Kathy Cook will continue to oversee the summer camp.
Two future programs/events were discussed: Kensington Town Day- an afternoon/evening picnic with the town including music, baseball, and a cookout. Fireworks were discussed, Mr. Lewis provided them last summer and it is unknown if they will be provided this year.
The second program discussed was Music in Sawyer Park, both Donna and I will start the process of looking into this event for the summer.
Mary Jane Solomon gave an update via email dated May 12, 200:
Mike Spinosa will submit a bill for the boardwalk: to be paid from last year’s budget. Mary Jane will order the Eagle Scout plaques: dugout 5 by 8, bridge 8 by 3 and they will be paid from last year’s budget. Donna will oversee Nancy’s stone and engraving and that will be paid from last year’s budget.
