Kensington Recreation Committee Minutes

September 10, 2008

Meeting began at 7:30 at the Town Hall

In attendance: Dave Macek, Donna Carter, Mary Jane Solomon

Minutes of July9th, July24th, and August 13^th approved.

Kathy Cook did find her ladder so only one replacement needs to be purchased.

Reimbursement for camper was sent.

Brief discussion on criteria for waiving fees for park usage as other members not present. Basically it was agreed upon that Kensington youth sports and recognized Kensington organizations should have fees waived. Perhaps a donation could be suggested or contribution to the park in some way, but that would be difficult to monitor.

Rec. sponsored fall concert or some sort of entertainment was mentioned. Not knowing the soccer schedule it was hard to choose a date or time. No one had suggestions for an entertainer. An e-mail could be sent to other members.

Review of what has been spent so far. $3,000 still needs to set aside for basketball hoops at KES.

It was agreed Rec. would order and pay for ‘Reserved’ signs to be used at the park for events. The exact cost is not known at this time, but will be reasonable.

Money has not yet been spent on trail work. To design and get approval for natural play areas at this time would take too long. MJ will look into at least the beginning of a boardwalk on the lower trails or having stumps ground on upper trail.

It was suggested some money go towards play equipment at Sawyer Field. It is believed the old swing set and digger was supposed to be placed there. MJ will ask at Trustee meeting.

Dave will look into cost for locking system to secure items stored in the bunker.

Dave also again mentioned the wetness in the bunker, stating water poured out when he opened it.
