Kensington Recreation Committee Minutes
May 9, 2007
Approved September 13, 2007
Meeting began at 7:00 at the Town Hall
In attendance: John Andreasse, Nancy Roffman, Dave Macek, Mary Jane Solomon
Minutes to April 11, 2007 meeting approved
Chris Hseih was recognized for his Eagle Scout project at EJBL Opening Day, rather than at the first game on Sawyer Field.
Dave contacted 4 businesses regarding mowing of both fields. Dave Chase was the only one interested so will again be given the job. Lorraine Hale will continue to maintain areas outside the playing field at the park. KYAA paid for pre-season prep work on Sawyer Field.
Trash cans were again asked for but denied. The parks remain carry in/carry out. Signs do need to be made stating this.
Discussion on posting signs restricting animals from the parks, as there has been evidence horses are being ridden across playing fields.
Dave and John have offered to reconstruct bleachers rather than buy new ones at this point. Completion of the new park will determine what is needed for new bleachers.
Discussion on planning of the new play space as requested by the park committee. It was decided a 3 bay swing set was needed; including 2 regular swings, 2 high back swings, and a tire swing. The infant swing set is relatively new and can be reused. The current swing set could perhaps be repositioned at Sawyer Field. All structures and equipment desired for the play space would occupy 11,500 sq. feet. Natural play spaces off the nature trail should be community build projects for the future.
Meeting adjourned. Next meeting June13th.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Jane Solomon
