No meeting in January due to extra meetings involving the new park proposal. No meeting in February due to conflict with Deliberative Session.
Discussion on the passing of the article to accept the gift of land and it’s improvements adjacent to and including the Town Park and Sawyer Field. Many more meetings will be schedule to discuss how this will progress. Meetings will be open to the public and posted on website.
Rec. wishes to make the development of walking trails with natural play areas branching off the trails our main priority. The tot lot and additional play spaces will also be researched by the Rec. Nancy suggested getting input from students at school as to what they like doing best when outside and use these ideas to build on. A list of websites/companies will be compiled to share for additional ideas.
Camp in the Park will probably not be able to be held in the park this year due to construction. Bruce Cilley had mentioned the possibility of hold it at the Pinnacle Center and has been asked to confirm this as well as possible dates available. Kathy and MJ will work on creating a camp brochure outlining goals and specifics about the day camp to try and raise interest. These will be ready to distribute and begin sign ups at the Wellness Fair at K.E.S. on April 18th. Need a third director. Nancy will ask Candace Smith.
Rec. would like to reappoint Nancy Roffman and Donna Carter to the committee if they are so willing to stay.
Dave is watching the weather to set a date for the annual park cleanup. He will also begin getting bids for maintaining the field through baseball/softball season. Lorraine Hale will be asked to continue the maintenance work she performs at the Town Park until construction begins.
The official Eagle Scout ceremony for Chris Hseih won’t be held until June or July, but Rec. wishes to present a plaque of appreciation to Chris and others who helped him complete the dugout project at opening day at Sawyer Field. Date to be determined.
Meeting adjourned. Next meeting April 11, 2007.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Jane Solomon
