Kensington Recreation Committee Minutes
December 13, 2006
Approved April 11, 2007
Meeting began at 7:00 at the Town Hall
In attendance: John Andreasse, Dave Macek, Mary Jane Solomon
KYAA report – Tom Feiden KYAA president until January, at which time all officers will be elected. There remains a small interest in keeping a Kensington baseball team. The thought is there just isn’t a league to absorb such a team at this time.
Paperwork for the extension of the backstop on Sawyer Field is complete. Work is to begin after Christmas. Question was raised about approaching Denise to compile a checklist of requirements to hand to anyone submitting a bid for any type of work making them aware of the requirements up front. This will be asked at the next selectmen’s meeting.
Roof replacement on old salt shed complete.
First phase of tree and brush clearing at the Town Park is complete. Cost for stump grinding will be looked into.
Sledding Party at Kimball Hill is scheduled for January 15th. That date is Martin Luther King Day and there will be no school. Time will be from 1 -3.
Report on Rec. programs at K.E.S. Women’s program is weak, but men’s and youth basketball programs very strong. It was suggested the Rec. purchase two more hoops for the multipurpose room to accommodate the growing need. John will ask Barbara Switzer about gaining approval for the installation of additional hoops.
Minutes to Nov. 8, 2006 meeting approved.
Meeting adjourned. Next meeting January 10, 2007.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Jane Solomon
