Kensington Recreation Committee Minutes

November 8, 2006

Draft subject to change prior to approval

Meeting began at 7:00 at the Town Hall

In attendance: Dave Macek, Kathy Cook, Mary Jane Solomon

Minutes of October 11th meeting approved

Update on KYAA from Dave. Peter Stackhouse and Steve McDonough have both resigned. Election of officers is scheduled for November 21st.

Discussion of tree clearing at Town Park. Dan Mello proposed $1,600 for cutting and chipping trees marked by Dan Provost along with removal of four trees in locust grove presenting dangerous situations. His proposal was accepted. Work should take place in December.

Mary Jane presented a proposal to host a sledding party and bonfire on Kimball Hill to assist the Conservation Commission in educating towns people as to where and what Kimball Farm is. This would occur in January, weather permitting. Proposal was approved with perhaps co-sponsorship with KYAA. They will be approached after election of officers.

Dave presented three estimates to upgrade backstop at Sawyer Field for safety reasons. Woodward Fence of Salisbury offered the most reasonable price so it was agreed they would get the bid.

Dave reported on crowded condition of shed at the Town Park. He will begin sorting out sports equipment and moving it to the office space at the old salt shed. This will be rotated with the seasons. Summer camp supplies will remain in the shed. Broken window in salt shed will be repaired.

Need to update website: Mary Jane Solomon – chair; Nancy Roffman – special programs; Kathy Cook – summer camp coordinator; Lili Spinosa – KES programs coordinator; Donna Carter – Halloween party; John Andreasse – KYAA liason; Dave Macek – fields manager; John Clark (unofficial member) – ski programs

Purchase of a sign to post KES activities will be looked into.

Still need lock on gate at Town Park to deter vandalism.

Meeting adjourned. Next meeting December 13, 2006

Respectfully submitted,

Mary Jane Solomon
