Kensington Recreation Committee Minutes
October 11, 2006
Approved Nov. 8, 2006
Meeting began at 7:00 at the Town Hall
In attendance: John Andreasse, Dave Macek, Kathy Cook, Mary Jane Solomon
Minutes of the Sept. 13th meeting approved.
Recap discussion on budget. Selectmen stated money budgeted as in/out items may not be tapped into for other uses. Other budget items may be redirected as the need arises.
Dan Provost is scheduled to begin tagging trees to be cleared at the Town Park on October 15th at 10:00. Dan Mello will be contacted about coming to the park that day or after the trees have been tagged to give an estimate.
Dave Chase will aerate both fields this fall for $185.
Dave Macek reported getting a price of $2,960 from Woodward Fence company in Salisbury to extend the backstop on Sawyer Field 6’ taller and 12’ on each side. Placing a center strip in the fence behind the plate to protect the fence would be an additional $336. Dave will continue trying to get other estimates.
The shed at the Town Park has begun being painted. There is a new lock on the shed. The Cannons and/or Mark Finerty will be contacted to see who put it on and how to get in. This is Rec. property and should only be secured by the Rec. Committee.
Discussion of the plaques recognizing Chris Hseih and CP Lumber for their part in building the dugouts. It was decided they should be presented to Chris at his Eagle Scout Ceremony and owners of CP should be invited.
KYAA update. A forum was held. The by-laws have yet to be seen and it was discovered there had been no paper work filed with the state since 1996 to maintain KYAA’s status as a non-profit organization. With proper paper work and payment of penalty fees, it can be reinstated. A meeting is scheduled to determine the future of KYAA at this point and elect new officers if it continues.
Meeting adjourned.
Next meeting November 8, 2006
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Jane Solomon
