Kensington Recreation Committee Minutes

September 13, 2006

Approved Oct. 11, 2006

Meeting began at 7:00 at the Town Hall

In attendance: Nancy Roffman, Dave Macek, John Andreasse, Mary Jane Solomon, Kathy Cook

A sink hole at the Town Park was reported. Selectmen took care of getting it filled.

New basketball nets are up at the Town Park.

Lili Spinosa asked if Rec. would be willing to purchase new hoops for the court at K.E.S. to be installed during the Timberland Servapalooza. These are available to all residents during non-school hours so it was agreed we would purchase them.

Discussion on what still needs to be purchased or work that needs to be done. The area at the Town Park to be designated as a toddler play area has not yet been cleared. Rec. members agreed purchasing bleachers would be more appropriate at this time. The two bleachers at Sawyer Field will be moved to the Town Park. Slightly larger bleachers will be purchased and placed at Sawyer Field.

Have not heard from KYAA regarding raising the backstop at Sawyer. Dave will contact a fence company to get an estimate.

Dave will look into getting plaques made acknowledging Chris Hseih’s work on the dugouts and generous contributions by CP Lumber.

Storage shed at Town park needs to be repainted. Mary Jane will purchase paint and look for someone to do the painting.

A lock for the old salt shed will be purchased and placed on front doors.

Dan Provost will be contacted regarding tree tagging at the Park. Dan Mello, who has been doing tree work for the town this summer, will be contact to estimate cost of clearing work.  Unused funds will go towards starting to clear.

Money is still available to contribute to the town Halloween Party.

It was agreed Rec. would show its support of the Timberland project at KES by supplying lunch for the workers as the walking path they will be installing will be for everyone in town.

Meeting adjourned.

Next meeting October 11th.

Respectfully submitted,

Mary Jane Solomon
