Kensington Recreation Committee Minutes

Meeting began at 7:00 at the Town Hall

Guest: Felicia Motherway

Minutes to June 14, 2006 meeting approved. There was no meeting in July.

Felicia Motherway attended the meeting to pass along information on organic lawn care.  Dave reported there is no current use of chemical herbicides or pesticides used on either Sawyer Field or the Town Park. Chemical fertilizers are applied on newly seeded grass areas. Felicia suggested having a soil test done by the extension service to determine what the soil on both fields needs. Aeration is recommended in the fall topped with compost to feed the soil. Felicia also recommended using a mulching mower to maintain the fields. This method automatically returns nutrients to the soil. She left several handouts for Rec. members to look over. This will need to be discussed when more are in attendance.

Felicia did ask who sprayed poison ivy along the road. We did not have an answer but Rec. has not contracted anyone to do any spraying.

Proposed budget for 2007 needs to be submitted before Sept. 28^th. A working session will be scheduled before our next regular meeting to work on the budget.
