Kensington Recreation Committee Minutes

April 12, 2006

Meeting began a t 7:00 in the Town Hall

In attendance: John Andreasse, Dave Macek, Kathy Cook, Mary Jane Solomon

 

Minutes of March 15, 2006 meeting approved.

 

Question was raised as to who keeps track of the running budget. MJ will get copy from Betty allowing us to make monthly updates of expenditures.

 

Discussion on color of dugout roof and fence protectors for Sawyer Field. Blue and white was suggested and approved.

 

Maintenance of both Sawyer Field and Town Park discussed. Selectmen will be asked how to proceed with soliciting bids. Dave will write specs for field maintenance. Lorraine Hale who has been mowing the park and Harold Bragg who mowed Sawyer last year will both be given these specs as well as anyone else wishing to bid.

 

John reported CP Lumber has offered donations of lumber for bleachers. John will also contact Chris Hsieh regarding his Eagle Scout Project and suggest he speak with CP about his building supplies.

 

Netting along road at Sawyer falling down. John and Dave will assess situation to see what can be done as a more long term solution. Currently it just slips down the trees.

Selectmen will be asked if they have suggestions or restrictions as to what can and cannot be done.

 

Donna Carter will be contacted regarding placement of port-o-lets at both fields.

 

Selectmen will be asked if there is a time line on placing doors on old salt shed.

 

Summer Camp discussion. Kathy and MJ will both do one week. Need for one more director. Will ask at local schools for possible teachers who would be interested.

 

Town Park improvements – need to meet with Conservation Commission and Dan Provost to discuss work and begin tagging trees. Need to determine exactly what work will be allowed by volunteers. MJ will send blurb on park to Community News asking for ideas and input.
