Kensington Conservation Commission

Minutes of November 10, 2009

Members in attendance: Heather Douglas, Sydnee Goddard, Joan Skewes, Rob Garneau

1.      Call to order 7:40.

2.      Minutes approved.

3.      Dave Viale from the Southeast Land Trust met with the Conservation Commission to discuss potentially conserving the Sargent property.  Southeast Land Trust met to discuss this property and agreed they would potentially be interested in holding an easement on it if the Town of Kensington bought it from John Sargent.  The land could then be managed with the abutting conservation easements also currently held by the Southeast Land Trust.  Dave Viale had presented this idea to John Sargent, who was amenable to it.  Group discussed potentially purchasing the full amount of property originally proposed, or a smaller back lot.  Dave Viale will speak to John Sargent about these developments, and talk about moving forward with an appraisal.  Sydnee will attend the next selectmen’s meeting on Monday, November 16 to discuss the idea with them.

4.      Sydnee sent changes to the draft proposal re: the Ryder property to Mike Speltz of the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests.  She has not had a response from him yet and will follow up with him.

5.      Adjourned 8:35 p.m.
