Kensington Conservation Commission

Minutes of April 14, 2009

Members in attendance: Joan Skewes, Heather Douglas, Sydnee Goddard

1.      Call to order 7:45.

2.      Minutes approved.

3.      Group read met with Mike Speltz from the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests (SPNEF) to discuss placing the Ryder land in conservation.  Chris Ryder is still very interested in conserving his land, which is about 55 acres in total, with approximately 43 of those in Kensington and the remainder in Exeter.  The property is near the Kimball land, and SPNEF is interested in making a green belt in that area.  Funding would come from the federal government, a donation from Chris Ryder, and contributions from the Exeter and Kensington Conservation Commissions.  Although the KCC does not have the funds needed currently, Chris Ryder would like a letter of intent stating the KCC would be willing to put funds towards conservation of his property when they become available.  Mike Speltz to meet with the Exeter Conservation Commission to determine if they would be willing to do the same thing.  If so, the next step is possibly a walk through of the property with all parties.

4.      Roadside cleanup is on April 18th.

5.      Adjourned 8:40 p.m.
