Kensington Conservation Commission

Minutes of January 13, 2009

Members in attendance: Rob Garneau, Joan Skewes, Heather Douglas, Sydnee Goddard

1.      Call to order 7:43.

2.      Minutes approved.

3.      Group read letter from Charlie Tucker re: Hodges conservation land and Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests (SPNHF).  Included copy of a letter dated September 22, 1993 regarding a request to install a bike trail and whether or not this would be in alignment with Charles Hodges’ intent for use of the land.  Joan and Sydnee will craft a response to SPNHF.

4.      New Hampshire Association of Conservation Commissions (NHACC) recommended warrant articles clarifying procedures for placing land in conservation.  The group decided to pursue this next year, with support from the selectmen.

5.      Sydnee reported that the selectmen do not support pursuing a code enforcement officer at this time.

6.      Sydnee drafted a letter response to Chris Ryder.  Group decided to look at it during the next meeting.

7.      Joan agreed to write a letter for the next Community News.

8.      Group discussed wetlands violation on Route 107.  Sydnee received a call from an abutter to the Briggs’ conservation land with concerns that another abutter is filling in wetlands with fill from Hudson Heights.  There is a question whether or not the parcel is wetlands.  Regardless, fill is clearly being dumped on the land abutting the Briggs’ conservation land, and there is no siltation fencing.  Sydnee will email the town to inform them and to ask for more information.

9.      A motion was made to pay New Hampshire Association of Conservation Commission (NHACC) dues for 2009 for $225 from the Conservation Commission annual budget.  Motion unanimously approved.

10.  Group to bring in a card to sign thanking Harry for his service on the Kensington Conservation Commission.

11.  Adjourned 8:45 p.m.
