Kensington Conservation Commission

Minutes of December 9, 2008

Members in attendance: Rob Garneau, Joan Skewes, Heather Douglas, Harry Bodwell, Sydnee Goddard

 

1.      Call to order 7:49.

2.      Minutes approved.

3.      Rob is moving forward with getting information about establishing a municipal trail system.  Group discussed the potential for creating trails on private land.

4.      Read letter from Charlie Tucker about Charles Hodges’ intent for using that conservation land for recreational use.  Charlie Tucker is getting the Memorandum of Agreement between the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests (SPNHF) and the Town of Kensington from storage.  Upon receipt of a copy, the group will review the agreement and craft a response to SPNHF regarding the recreational land use on the Charles Hodges’ conservation land.

5.      Joan and Sydnee will meet to compile an annual report of the Hodges Conservation Land to SPNHF.

6.      Sydnee to check if the selectman have drafted and sponsored the warrant articles recommended by the New Hampshire Association of Conservation Commissions (NHACC).

7.      A motion to keep the Kensington Conservation Commission budget in 2009 the same as 2008 ($550) was unanimously approved.

8.      Group approved a draft letter supporting turf management practices in the town park. 

9.      Read and discussed letter from Chris Ryder.  Sydnee to draft a reply and email to the group to review.

10.  After many decades of service on the Conservation Commission, Harry Bodwell resigned.  The group thanked him for his dedication and wished him well.
