Kensington Conservation Commission
Minutes of November 17, 2008
Members in attendance: Rob Garneau, Joan Skewes, Heather Douglas
1. Call to order 7:40.
2. Minutes approved.
3. Reviewed letter from the Society for the Protection of NH Forests regarding the Charles Hodges/Town of Kensington conservation easement regarding monitoring, the nature of the agreement and the gravel parking area. Joan to email Sara Callaghan, Easement Steward, to inform her we are gathering information to address her concerns to review at our next meeting and compose a response.
4. A motion to expend $100 out of the Conservation Commission account to the SouthEast Land Trust was approved unanimously.
5. Reviewed copy of letter from the Department of Environmental Services regarding the wetlands violation at Kensington Place. Gore Environmental Services sent a reply but to date no action has been taken to restore the wetland.
6. Reviewed documentation from Rockingham County Conservation District re: monitoring Kimball easement.
7. Group decided not to purse a grant from the NH Estuaries Project to hire people for conservation planning and easement stewardship.
8. Sydnee and Rob brought the two warrant article recommendations from the NH Association of Conservation Commission Center for Land Conservation Assistance to the selectmen at the November 3 meeting. No opposition was voiced. To discuss next steps at the next Conservation Commission meeting.
9. Sydnee and Rob went to the selectmen’s meeting on November 3 to discuss establishing a municipal trail system. The selectmen were favorable toward the proposal. Rob to call the NH Association for Conservation Commissions for further direction about how to establish it.
