Minutes of May 8, 2007

 

Members in attendance: Joan Skewes, Sydnee Goddard

Guests: Heather Douglas, Theresa Walker, Mary Currier

 

1. Call to order 7:45pm

2.  Mary Currier shared latest on FRPP easement award for Cole property.  KCC discussed other sources of funding to conserve Cole property.  Theresa suggested contacting Julie Chase of Emergency Management Bureau to check on possibility of Homeland Security Funds.  Sydnee will do so.  Theresa will look into DES Source Water Protection as another source. 

3. Minutes approved.

4. Sydnee will notify selectmen about KCC's nomination of Heather Douglas to join the commission.

5. Theresa Walker shared that she reviewed that town's master plan.  She believes it adequately covers the topic of water source and wetlands protection.  She shared that N.H.E.P has funds to do prime wetland resource mapping, and that we can apply for these until June.  She suggested that KCC and the Planning Board meet with Jody Costella for a presentation about increasing wetland buffers.  Theresa will see about setting up a joint KCC and planning board meet for June 12th or 19th.

6.  Two members noticed that a private landowner's fence is encroaching on town conservation land.  Sydnee will ask selectmen to write a letter to this land owner.

7.  Discussed abuse of town conservation land by people riding ATV's, which are not allowed.  Sydnee will speak to the police chief and ask for his assistance in enforcing the no ATV rule.  Heather will write reminder  about ATV use for Community News.

8.  Theresa will e-mail Sydnee a notice seeking volunteers to serve on ERLAC.  Sydnee will ask to have it printed in the Community News.

9. Discussed illegal dumping on Old Amesbury Road.  Sydnee will contact landowner with suggestions on how to solve the problem
